The Toluca meteorite is an inclusion-rich Coarese Octahedrite iron meteorite. It was first recognized as a meteorite around 1776. However, it had been a local source of iron for the forging of inplements long before that date. Many large masses had been found by the local inhaibitants of the region near the village of Xiquipilco in the Toluca Valley of Mexico. Toluca meteorite displays a very attractive and interesting Widmanstatten pattern when polished and etched. Its rich history and beautiful appearance make it a nice addition to any collection.
