Just got my Arizonan iron meteorite delivered. I’m about to give it to my dad as a surprise and random present for no particular occasion. He was a geology major with a physical geography minor from the University of Colorado where he graduated back in 1975. I’m pretty sure he does not have a meteorite and is going to love it. After reading about how to care for meteorites, I think I want to get a display case with low humidity. Although it won’t be leaving his air-conditioned house, it gets pretty humid here in Pennsylvania, and I want to preserve it. I lived in Tucson, AZ for five years when I was younger, and I always wanted to see the famous meteor crater, but sadly I never made it up there to see it in person. I’ve been told it’s extremely impressive. Well, I’m too excited, and can’t wait any longer. I’m about to go give this space rock to him now. 🙂 Thank you!

I’ve always been interested in space since I saw the Moon walk at age 5.

I got into astrophotography this year, and am loving it. I live in a rural place with dark skies. I spend a lot of time outside at night, so I see a lot of meteoroid trails without even looking for them. The trails also show up sometimes on the deep space photo subs I take.

When I found out about Meteorites-for-Sale, a legit, well-respected company selling tiny pieces of the asteroid belt for the price of a dinner in a very reasonable restaurant, I bought some.

I got a piece of an Agoudal meteorite, and a piece of a Mundrabilla shale meteorite. They arrived and they’re very cool. My wife and I enjoy them, and our cats were interested in them also. But not for long, because they’re cats. I’m still very interested in them. My magnet likes them too.

I just bought a piece of Mars from meteorites-for-sale, and am looking forward to having it in my home.

They always have a wide selection of specimens available and a plethora of information about every one of them. It makes shopping for and documenting your collection so much easier. Each piece was well-packaged for shipping and the order was shipped quickly. The only suggestion for improvement I have for them is to choose shipping options more efficiently. I was charged $27 to ship 11 specimens weighing around 91g (0.2 lbs) because it was sent flat-rate priority. If this were shipped standard priority it would have been less than half that cost based on the weight and size and would have been the same service.

I recently bought with the assistance of Paul, a Sikhote-Alin meteorite. It is a small one and has an incredible shape, one that I have never seen personally or online. The price was very reasonable, and due to what I believe is a one-of-a-kind shape, it could well have been considerably more expensive but it wasn’t. To say that I am very pleased with what I bought would be the understatement of the century! Some people assume that anything from outer space would be out of reach financially but that is not the case. If you are considering getting a unique gift for yourself or someone else, consider a meteorite. I purchased 2 small pieces of Lunar meteorite and I was very thrilled to receive them. They came when they said they would and the 2 pieces were each sealed in a protective acrylic capsule which had a label stating what the pieces were. They also came with a card which stated what the pieces were.

I have been an astronomer for over 20 years, and an avid meteorite collector for the past three. I have made purchases from all the largest reputable dealers, and from some very well established collectors. I received my slices of siderite promptly and am currently waiting on a canyon diablo meteorite. The siderite slice have fantastic etching and the olivine inclusions look great, both with the naked eye and under the microscope. The meteorites I received were more beautiful then the pictures on the website! I am very pleased with my purchases. Packaging was double bubble wrapped, plus lots of extra padding inside the box…and shipping was super fast! The only caution I have to share is to read the description carefully. One of my purchases was a slice, and I thought it was a end piece. It was listed as a slice at bottom of page, but I missed it. I am writing it off as an oversight due to being my 1st purchase, and will be more careful next time as I definitely will be using this website again.

It would also be great to get more information about how the Lunar and Martian meteorites are characterised. The iron meteorites I bought look unique and give me confidence but I just feel like some little explanation of how the particular Lunar and Martian meteorites I got were characterised. Like it’s claimed that lab testing is done, then why not include the results then with the sample, I’d be really curious to see it because I’m really interested in anything to do with the science behind these little rocks now that I own them.

After making my first order, I had a few questions about meteorites in general, so I fired off a few lines to clear it up at two o’clock in the morning. Before I got out of bed the next day, Paul had written a lengthy reply addressing every concern, and in a very pleasant manner. Who does that in the middle of the night? My meteorite was very well packaged. During shipment the container it was being shipped in was damaged but it did not hurt my meteorite because of the fact it was so well packaged. It was a delight to finally see my meteorite. It is the real deal. This site is a wonderful place to shop because of the affordability of their products.
