Several pieces of the Sueilila 002 Martian meteorite were found in the Western Sahara between May and July, 2014. The Sueilila 002 meteorite, (aka Jrifiya), has been classified as a Martian (shergottite, olivine-phyric). The meteorite slices and pieces offered here came from the 124 gram stone which was purchased in October 2014 as mentioned in the literature.
Sueilila 002 is highly shocked which is understandable since it was struck by an asteroid which launched it into space with pieces that later fell to Earth to become Martian meteorites. This Mars rock is only moderately weathered and has an interesting mineral structure and pretty coloring. It was formed from magma and has a porphyritic texture. Sueilila 002 is a great meteorite for any collection needing a specimen from the Red Planet.
