NWA 725 (Tissemoumine) Acapulcoite / Winonaite
Find / Fall: Found – Unknown
Location: Meknès-Tafilalet, Morocco
Classification: Acapulcoite/Winonaite
Total Known Weight: 3.82kg
NWA 725 also known as Tissemoumine is a member of a very rare group of meteorites the Acapulcoites. Most of the acapulcoites are listed acapulcoite/winonaite. These are two of the hardest classifications to differentiate so they are often seen together with a slash. However, NWA 725 is listed in the Meteoritical Bulletin as only Acapulcoite. Visually it appears much like an H chondrite having a generous amount of small metal grains set in a chocolate colored stone matrix. One stone of 3.8 kilograms was recovered in 2000. This is a great meteorite from one of the small and unusual meteorite families.
