NWA 16127 is a Martian shergottite type meteorite and has been classified as an evolved pyroxene-phyric basalt. The NWA 16127 meteorite was found in 2023 as a single 200 gram stone and purchased by Ruben Garcia from a Moroccan meteorite dealer.
NWA 16127 is highly shocked and only moderately weathered. It was recovered with a sandblasted surface lacking any remaining fusion crust and the gray-brown stone shows shiny grains of maskelynite. The Martian stone is composed of mainly clinopyroxene and maskelynite with titanomagnetite being found throughout.
