NWA 12594 is a Martian shergottite. Several stones found in 2018 were purchased from a Moroccan dealer. The NWA 12594 stones were partially covered with a black fusion crust and appeared to be fresh and unaltered. The interior of NWA 12594 is composed of yellow-green and pale gray mineral grains. The primary minerals in NWA12594 are elongated prismatic pyroxene crystals and lath-like plagioclase crystals. Many accessory minerals are also found including Titanomagnetite.
NWA 12594 is a fresh stone with a green-gray color commonly seen in Martian shergottites. It takes a high polish and is a relatively stable meteorite that was not too crumbly during cutting. The slices we are offering have been made into nice affordable pieces that still show off the meteorite well.
