NWA 1180 is a carbonaceous chondrite of the CR2 type. This means that it has been placed in the chemical group of the Renazzo carbonaceous chondrites. It has some large porphyritic chondrules. NWA 1180 has a fine grain matrix and has quite a bit of metal like other CR meteorites. Metal is often around 5-8 vol%. Eight crusted stone totaling 1705 grams were found and bought in 2000. This is a great meteorite of an uncommon type.
