Boxhole meteorites were found in Australia in 1937. The Hart Range meteorite was discredited as part of the Boxhole shower in 1973, on the basis of geographical location, microstructure, and chemical composition. Boxhole is classified as a IIIAB iron meteorite.
Boxhole iron meteorites often have a reddish natural patina. Some offer a spattering of regmaglypts, while others are wonderfully oriented.
