Jbilet Winselwan was found May 24, 2013 about 7 kilometers from the town of Smara in Morocco. It is a carbonaceous chondrite of the CM2 type. This is a meteorite type that has been of great scientific interest for several decades and includes many famous meteorite names. As with most CM2 meteorites the stones are nearly black with scattered chondrules. Metal is found only rarely in these stones. Many pieces of Jbilet Winselwan have a fresh black fusion crust. A total of about 6 kilograms of Jbilet Winselwan is estimated to have been recovered.
